Western New England University

Western New England University inducted seven students into its Maureen Keizer chapter of National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). The NRHH is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. NRHH strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing. It ensures the advancement of member chapters through resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities to contribute and support the vision of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.

The 5th annual Golden Voice competition was held recently on the Western New England University campus. The University's ten best singers gave it their all in front of an audience of hundreds of students, faculty, and family.

Four Western New England University students were recognized for their outstanding efforts and honored with the Big E "Host of the Day" award.

Western New England University's Stageless Players presented their Fall production of The Wizard of Oz by Claude Townley, the non-musical adaptation of the original story by L. Frank Baum. The production was directed by Western New England seniors Alexandria Escribano and Jared Duval. Members of the cast include Adam Deshefy (The Wizard of Oz), Elizabeth Grosse (Dorothy), Ryan Glynn (Scarecrow), James Kolesar (Tin Woodman), Dan Hernandez (Cowardly Lion), Steve O'Brien (Witch of the West), Kristen Dansereau (Good Witch of the North/South), Austin Baacke (Uncle Henry), Gennah Borg (Aunt Em), Jesse Walters and Kenya Jenkins (Munchkins), Jeffrey Massicott (Guardian of the Gates), Tink Moretti and Grant Felenstein (Ozites), Jimmy Sullivan (King of the Wicked Monkeys), and Aoife O'Connell and Chris Jurkiewicz (Winged Monkeys).

The following Western New England University students have been selected for inclusion in the 2015-2016 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. A total of 36 students from Western New England University have been selected as national outstanding campus leaders. The University's nominating committee and editors of the annual directory have included the following students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activity and potential for continued success.

Students receive the Alfred & Marian LaRiviere Merit Award during Convocation at Western New England University.This award is given to sophomore members of Alpha Lambda Delta with the highest grade point average at the end of the Spring 2015 semester and who intend to return to the University the following year.

The Western New England University Alumni Association announces the 2015 Skookum Awards honoring 15 students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, co-curricular activities, athletics, volunteer work, and community service. The word "Skookum" in the Chinook language means "excellence." This year's award recipients come from diverse backgrounds and were nominated by faculty, staff, and coaches.

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the national honor society for business schools accredited by AACSB - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - recently notified the College of Business (COB) that it has conferred "High Honors" on the Western New England University chapter for the 2014-15 academic year.

College of Business Dean Julie Siciliano announced that Taylor MacKinnel, a senior majoring in Management and Leadership, is the recipient of the 2015 Lawrence H. Nath Management Award which is given to the Management majors with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the completion of their junior year. Taylor MacKinnel, of Salley, SC, received a monetary gift and a certificate in celebration of this honor. In addition, MacKinnel's name will be added to the plaque of students who have previously received this award. The plaque is displayed in the foyer of the College of Business in Churchill Hall.

Nine Western New England University students arrived on campus a week early for intensive training for their positions in the St. Germain Campus Center. The seven Building Supervisors and two Area Managers participated in training about the role and function of the campus union, FISH philosophy of customer service, supervising their peers, best practices in building management, and teamwork. Western New England University College of Pharmacy Class of 2019 students recently took part in the program's traditional White Coat Ceremony. Seventy-four Pharmacy students were given the short white coat, which marks the student's transition into the profession of pharmacy and the start of their journey to becoming pharmacists. The Western New England University College of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy program is a 4 year course of study which has been granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
