The Western New England University chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society welcomed 24 students at the University's 12th annual induction ceremony which took place on April 21 at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Holyoke, MA.

Fifteen Western New England University students had the opportunity to attend the Northeast Under/graduate Research Organization for Neuroscience (NEURON) conference on February 28. The NEURON conference provides an open forum for neuroscience undergraduate and graduate students to discuss their work and to provide faculty an opportunity to discuss curricular and research issues in neuroscience, biopsychology and related areas.

The Western New England University chapter of Alpha Mu Alpha National Honor Society welcomed 7 students at the University's annual induction ceremony which took place on April 12 in the University's D'Amour Library. Alpha Mu Alpha is the national marketing honorary society for qualified undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral marketing students and marketing faculty. The Western New England University chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon welcomed 10 students at the University's annual induction ceremony which took place on April 8 in the University's Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy. Pi Mu Epsilon is the nation's most prestigious mathematics honor society. The purpose of the society is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions.

The Western New England University chapter of Psi Chi welcomed 15 students at the University's annual Psi Chi National Honor Society induction ceremony which took place on March 22 in the University's Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy. Psi Chi is the national honor society in psychology and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association. The purpose of the honor society is to advance the science of psychology and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship.

The National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter) names Western New England University Students as University Innovation Fellows.

During the summer of 2016 Adrian Barber and a group of other young adults will travel to San Francisco, CA where their journey will begin, and run for 49 days across the country to New York City. Barber and his fellow runners hope to spark awareness across the country, and raise money for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

Western New England University seniors Samuel McLaren and Tianna Procon were chosen among the top Outstanding Presentation Winners at the Mathematical Association of America Student Poster Session in Seattle, Washington on January 8, 2016.

Four Western New England University students were selected to participate in the Valley Venture Mentors' (VVM) Accelerator Program. The goal of VVM is to build, support, and maintain a community that nurtures start-up businesses creating an entrepreneurial renaissance according to their website. AnyCafe the student run start-up began operations in October 2015.

Western New England University recently held Student Senate elections for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Student Senate is the official voice of full-time students and is comprised of representatives from each class, representatives from each of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering, commuter and resident representatives. The Student Senate serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and the administration of the University and appoints representatives to sit on joint committees of the Faculty Senate in order to encourage cooperation and to foster joint decision making.

Seventeen students from Western New England University recently attended the 2015 Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists (NEAFS) Annual Meeting in Hyannis, MA. NEAFS is a professional organization for people employed within the forensic sciences and regionally covers all of New England, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Western New England University inducted seven students into its Maureen Keizer chapter of National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). The NRHH is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. NRHH strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing. It ensures the advancement of member chapters through resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities to contribute and support the vision of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.

The 5th annual Golden Voice competition was held recently on the Western New England University campus. The University's ten best singers gave it their all in front of an audience of hundreds of students, faculty, and family.
