Samuel A. McLaren Honored at Western New England University College of Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony

2016 Jun 20

Samuel McLaren received the Allen E. Anderson Award at the 2016 College of Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony at Western New England University.

The Allen E. Anderson Award is determined first by the overall GPA and the GPA in Mathematics, then by an evaluation by the Mathematics faculty, who consider the student's potential for graduate study in Mathematics or a related field, as well as the student's service to the field. Dr. Enam Hoq, Professor of Mathematics, presented the award.

McLaren, a member of the Massachusetts Kappa Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon Honor Society, is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in both Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering.

"Sam is the top student in our major," says Dr. Hoq. "He has been a leader among his peers, serving as president of the Western New England University chapter of SIAM, the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and also the president of the Math Club. He will undoubtedly do a great job and go onto great things."

Sam has been accepted to the University of Arizona, one the top graduate programs in Applied Mathematics in the United States.
