Rachael Gotta Honored at Western New England University

Rachael M. Gotta of Somers, CT, received the Honor Award for Social Work during the College Honors Ceremonies at Western New England University. Paula Nieman, Professional Educator of Social Work, presented the award which is given to the graduating senior Social Work major with the highest overall grade point average. Neiman noted Gotta's tenacity, compassion, and willingness to look for -and build on- the strengths of people and communities.

Gotta is a member of the Mortar Board, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. She did all of this while achieving a 3.96 average in her coursework and a 3.99 average in her social work courses. She served as secretary of the student Social Work club, acting as a Peer Advisor to underclassmen, working in a nursing home, working in the University's Admissions Office, and collaborating with Social Work faculty in student recruitment efforts.

Gotta graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Social Work.
