Kubilis Honored at Western New England University

Madison J. Kubilis of Charlton, MA, received the Excellence in Forensic Biology Award at the College Honors Ceremonies at Western New England University. The Excellence in Forensic Biology Award is given to a graduating senior with the highest grade point average and demonstrated commitment to advancing the field of Forensic Biology. Mr. John Drawec, Assistant Professor of Biology, presented the award.

Graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Biology, Kubilis is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, and Omicron Delta Kappa national honor societies.

Kubilis has been involved in many campus activities. She has served as a Science Center Tutor, and a Teaching Assistant in both Organic Chemistry and Forensic Science Laboratory sessions. She has assisted at Open Houses and is a student employee assistant in the Western New England University campus center. Kubilis served as President of the University's Forensic Science Club after serving as Vice-President last academic year. She has presented original research at the Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Association of Forensic Sciences on the Recovery of DNA Evidence from Exploded Molotov Cocktails and she had a successful internship with the Massachusetts State Police Forensic Sciences DNA Unit in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Section.

Kubilis has applied for employment and is under consideration for many positions within the forensic biology field.
