Iman S. Shehemi Inducted Into Beta Alpha Psi National Honor Society

2017 May 8

Iman Shehemi was welcomed into Beta Alpha Psi National Honor Society on May 4, at the Western New England University chapter's annual induction ceremony.

Founded in 1919, Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor organization for accounting, finance, and information systems students attending universities accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Beta Alpha Psi encourages and recognizes scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field, promotes the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems, and provides opportunities for self-development, service, and association among members and practicing professionals. It strives to encourage a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Currently, there are over 300 chapters on college and university campuses with over 300,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi's formation.

"The College of Business faculty are thrilled to have so many students inducted into Beta Alpha Psi this year," explained Professor of Accounting Tara Corthell. "I am honored to be the faculty advisor for an honor organization that recognizes the hard work and dedication that our students put into their academics."

Western New England University has a total of 21 honor societies on campus. Close to 600 students were inducted into these organizations in the Spring 2017 semester.
