Hayley Johnson Presents Research Findings at fall 2016 Poster Session

2017 Jan 17

Hayley Johnson, a Psychology major, is one of 12 Western New England University students who participated in research opportunities this fall. The work encompassed the methodology of psychological research from the conception of a hypothesis to the publication of the results.

Johnson's research poject is titled "Is Oral Activity Linked to Increased Recall Among College Students? The Impact of Sucking and Chewing on Test Scores." This study focused on whether test scores among college students improved whether they were given a Jolly Rancher or a stick of gum upon learning and recall periods.

"Although we had to reject the hypotheses, we did find some interesting results. I am happy with what we found and that this research could be further expanded in the future."
