Benvenuto Honored at Western New England University

Kayla M. Benvenuto of Tewksbury, MA, received the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence and Excellence in Forensic Chemistry Award at the College Honors Ceremonies at Western New England University. Dr. Saeed Ghahramani Dean, College of Arts and Sciences and Mr. John Drawec, Assistant Professor of Biology, presented the awards.

Graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry, Benvenuto is a member of Mortar Board, Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa national honor socieities, and is named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 2013-2014.

Professor Drawec had this to say about Kayla, "In addition to Kayla's academic success at Western New England University, her campus activities are equally impressive. She has served as a First Year Seminar Assistant, an Open House Associate, a Polling Institute Interviewer, a Science Center Tutor, and an Organic Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Assistant. Kayla is on the Student Affairs Committee for the University's Board of Trustees. She is the Treasurer of the University's Dance Team, Forensic Science Club and Mortar Board Society. She is a Peer Advisor, and a member of the Chemistry Club. Kayla is a talented and resourceful young woman inside and outside the classroom."

This fall, Kayla will attend the Boston University School of Medicine where she will pursue a graduate degree in Biomedical Forensic Sciences.
